"My New Acquaintance" by J.Gonzalez III 2008 One evening while walking alone I stumbled upon a lonely tombstone In a graveyard near my home And the name for which I read has now awaken the dead The name for which it wore For I read it once more Has now followed me home Has now entered my front door A darkened shadow now seems to loom around my house & in every room The tricks She picks make me aware Of my New Acquaintance My new distraught affair And at night while I sleep When my eyes close shut and my dreams run deep She hums a song for me to hear By the side of my bed up close to my ear But as I awake I am certain that she hides behind my curtain And the weeks go by The days vanish & the hours fly But still she sits by my side Sad & alone in her playful tone As though forgetting She died
