My beautiful 2nd cousin, Bobby Rearden, citizen extraordinaire, passed away on Saturday. He had the most infectious spirit and ALWAYS saw the glass half full. He and his son, Robert Rearden III and their company, Kestrel Productions, produced Blues For Willadean. Del Shores, the writer/director & producer with Bobby, writes about him here. There is also a link to a lovely biography. Bobby was a childhood hero to me and remains a hero to me today. He asked me to bring him a film project and I brought him several. Ultimately he chose Del Shores & his then titled The Trials And Tribulations Of A Trailer Trash Housewife, the story of a forgotten woman trapped in domestic violence and poverty. He fought to shine a light on this subject with this film til the end. As his friend President Carter has said, Violence against women is the number one problem facing our world today. Bobby believed it and did something about it.
