My child is on a mermaid kick. After searching the internet, she whole heartedly believes that if she says a spell or mixes a concoction correctly, she can transform into one. I have tried to encourage her to simply use her imagination. She will have none of that. She is heartbroken each and every time her directions fail to produce a tail for her. She keeps telling me we must have followed the instructions wrong *sigh* which means there will be more spells to follow (the last one we had to make a salt water paste and smear it on her legs, cite the spell, and then jump into water). It reminds me when she was around 3 years of age and asked for fairy wings. She was so incredibly excited when they arrived and had me help her into them ASAP only to be devastated when she wasnt able to truly fly.
