My exit is up on the right…and apparently, there’s an “Exit tax”. On 01-Oct-2013, my management told me that Merck was selling my site, and that I should look for a job. After applying for almost 55 jobs, and interviewing for quite a few of them, I was transferred back to our Kenilworth site where I started in 2000, and although I was grateful for the gesture, I continued with the leads I had at the time. So, today I told my management that I will be leaving the company to pursue another opportunity. Quite an emotional endeavor that I didn’t expect. It is with mixed emotions that I share news of a new job. After more than a year of looking, and many more years of constant change in the pharmaceutical industry, I have accepted an offer from Duke University in Durham, NC to manage their HVAC Dept. That’s right, NC, not NJ, lol. I am very excited for the opportunity and had to share, however I am sad about leaving some of the people I care about most, especially family. Although I will do whatever I can to maintain connections and relationships for my children, I know it will take a toll on everyone that loves them, and impact them in a way they can’t truly understand. The good news is that it is only a few hours away. The next few weeks are going to be tough, both physically and emotionally. We have to sort, pack, say goodbye to everything and everyone we know, etc. however the hope is that a better quality of life for my family lies on the other side. Im told by the folks I met in NC that I better like the color blue.
