My favorite article that Ive read this week. Ive - TopicsExpress

My favorite article that Ive read this week. Ive internally wrestled with being a bigger gal since I was about 9. Back then ( and for a long time since), the mantra was, be smaller, eat less, exercise more! Someone very close to me even asked me, when I was about 14, Dont you want to be thin and pretty like your friends? OF COURSE I DID. I tried eating less. Ive tried almost every diet ever invented. The thing is, once I start seriously mixing it up with exercise, I go back to eating more. All that activity just makes me really hungry. Now that Im 30 Im starting to be really comfortable in my skin. I hear less rude comments about my weight ( maybe just because Im not listening anymore), and when I do hear them they dont quite cut all the way into my heart. But that doesnt change the fact that its almost impossible for me to find cute clothes that fit, or that everywhere I go, social media is projecting images of women that are definitely not bigger than a size 6 into my brain and screaming at me that THIS IS THE NORM, IF YOU DONT LOOK LIKE THIS THEN YOU NEED TO STOP EATING EVERYTHING EXCEPT GRAPEFRUIT AND CELERY AND HIRE A PERSONAL TRAINER YOU FAT PIECE OF GARBAGE. And its tiring. I dont like watching TV or reading magazines anymore. Im not a sideline chick, or the fat friend, or anyone who deserves to be marginalized because I dont adhere to conventional, acceptable standards of beauty. So if youre one of those people who is fatphobic, please just keep your opinions and comments to yourself. As far as bodies are concerned, were all perfectly imperfect and we should all just count ourselves lucky to have one.
