My first thought was OMG - what is that! when this 8lb 11oz fair haired, bright red child was shown to me....... Delivered 2 weeks early, she was nothing like anything I had every seen. Her white skin and peach fuzz hair made her ginormous head resemble a coconut. Her blue eyes and transparent complexion defied my olive skin and dark features. I reviewed her birth videos and pictures for months to make sure I got the right child. How could she be so different? Yet, she knew she was mine. Affectionate and loving from day 1, she nuzzled, cooed and rarely cried. She ate enormous quantities and was sleeping 8 hours by 8 weeks old, which was hard for me to admit to the exhausted mothers at my infant massage class. Somehow 4 years have escaped us. Caught up in the tornado which is our life, and being the youngest of 4, ages 4 and under at the time, Baby Coco just had to strap herself in for a wild ride. We smiled at her milestones, but have yet to record them. The baby who so desperately wanted to be a baby, often was given big girl expectations. And she would rise to the occasion, keeping up with her brothers and sisters, developing at rapid speed...... walking fast, talking fast, climbing, running, exploring. Shes such a mixture of extremes in her personality........ loving and affectionate, yet wildly independent....... sweet and polite, yet stubbornly defiant when crossed........ rough, feral & tomboyish, yet maternal as she cradles her soft toys and baby dolls, Baby Coco loves to run freely to dive headfirst into a wavy ocean, and then play quietly with buckets on a sandy beach. Pulled in the direction of bigkid-dom and steadfast in her role as baby, she still manages to do both thanks to her place in the family. Baby Coco is the final piece of our puzzle, the darling of our family, the best friend to her sister, and the baby to all of us, and a joy to everyone she meets. For four years she has completed our lives. For four years she has been our baby, our love and our joy. Happy Birthday Baby Coco! Welcome to 4!
