My following up thoughts get a lot more esoteric -- All we do in life can be seen as a series of events played either forwards or backwards. How to judge? How to find meaning? I think of a quote from Walter Sobchak in The Big Lebowski when I think of our birth into this world, how each of us is, like a child that wonders into the middle of a movie and wants to know.... Know what exactly? Know why Richie slits his wrists in this movie? Why anyone would commit suicide? Why anything at all happens in this universe, perhaps? To see the first causes in life (ie. The big bang or more specifically here the taboo love of Margot) is to know the reasons, but our autonomy...our decisions in this chaotic existence defy such prosaic and deterministic reasons. And the beauty of reversal...to be able to step outside of time itself can either rob or imbue meaning that transcends our desperate struggle for meaning in a world that seems to grind on forward seemingly like a juggernaut out of our control, but of which we are a part of. We are the slitters of wrists and the untouchable lovers both. To see ourselves in the Other is a helluva challenge. Mah, I have no idea WTF Im talking about.
