My friend Malachi ODoherty raises the question of Belfast City funding a visit from The Pope...anon: THIS OF FUNDING DE POPE: Look, folks- this Papa comes at economy listing...bus fare from Dublin-whatever. Lives in a B^B in Rome, drives small cars, non smoker light drinker, light eater and is known for hand-outs to the needy. and similar charitable giving.( as Head of State, Francis comes with charitable, tax deductible status. And if it be needed, surely HM Queen,(who is a mate) would lend him Hillsborough for a stately night or two? And if he needs to be in Town, sure Billy Hastings or Felix Mooney could put him up in The Europa or the Wellington Park? So whats with funding? Is say that will all the spiritual goodies he has to shower upon the faithful, and the massive world wide publicity when he meets Ian Paisley ,whew! Oremus- let us pray, Brothers and Sisters, for a Papal visitation.
