My friend showed me, to my disbelief, a jerk in a dating site that had posted a picture of himself in front of the Auschwitz entrance. You know, with the terrible sign and everything. They say that if you have nothing nice to say you shouldnt say anything at all. But the thing is that, when horrible things happen, its hard to find anything nice to be said. And silence is never an option. The famous Milgram Experiment exposes the fragility of our integrity and loyalty to our values when faced with authoritarianism and peer pressure. The chilling truth is that most of us would indeed claim that we were just following orders even after committing the most barbaric atrocities. Thats why I believe that children should be taught to disobey as much as they are told to obey. Being obedient is not a virtue I think. Disobedience is underrated.
