My heart has been sad since I heard the news yesterday about Robin Williams death. I know there are so many tragic things going on in this world at the moment, and to focus on the loss of one human being because of his fame, seems almost selfish but, the truth is that he was an amazingly talented person admired by so many including myself and I cant help but be impacted by such a sudden and unfortunate loss. To be completely honest though, what grieves my heart even more is the mentality of much of our society who, as I read comment after comment, post after post seem to believe it was ok or even worse better or good for him to have taken his life away if thats what chose or needed to do in order to escape his suffering. No guys, suicide is NEVER ok! Depression is a terrible condition that can fall on anyone (rich, poor, popular or outcast) there are people all around us everywhere who due to stress, loneliness, low self-esteem, mental illness, lack of love or hope in anything, are resorting to this solution. It is not only a terrible condition but an epidemic that once it hits a home will continue to hurt and destroy everyone in and around it, its effects are never ending. People need help, we need to increase awareness of the signs to look out for and how to get treated. But more than anything WE need to be aware of the people that surround us, family, friends, acquaintances, strangers we come in contact with. We need to show people love, care, kindness, respect, forgiveness and acceptance even when we dont agree with how they act, what they say or how they live. We need to get out of our materialist and self-centered, little bubble and do our part and extend help to those who need it. Now more than ever before people need to know that there is hope, joy and peace to be experienced in the midst of this ugly world we live in. It is time for people to know that there is a real, living, and everlasting God who teaches us how to love perfect strangers because He demonstrates this to us on a daily basis. He loves us with all of our defects and failures just as much as He loves everyone else he created on this planet, regardless of their lack of faith and even if they have never believed in His existence. He paid the ultimate sacrifice through the death of His only son Jesus Christ who has saved us from our sin and could give us a beautiful eternal life free from sadness and pain. (John 3:16) He is ready and willing at any and all times to restore, heal and bring life and love to those who are broken but cry out to Him. But how will people know? How will they know to cry out or ask God to come to their rescue in a moment of desperation if they have never heard of him? Or if all of their life theyve been told hes not real or that hes nothing but a myth? We as Christians who know the truth need to come together in one spirit and with one mission... To rise up and be bold in our faith... We Need to share the gospel of good news to everyone all over the world starting with our immediate circles of influence. Not just those we feel comfortable with, or those we think wont criticize us or laugh at us, or be offended by our boldness, we need to tell every single person that surrounds us that there is a God who loves them and has a special purpose for their life... all it takes is a simple prayer of repentance asking God to forgive their sins, confessing that Jesus is Lord, who rose from the dead and then asking the Holy Spirit to come into their hearts. (1 John 1:9) (Romans 10:9) Its really that simple, and they will have a free ticket to an eternal paradise and will be a changed person with a new hope and indescribable peace! I know because I have experienced it firsthand in my life and in the miraculously transformed lives of others who through their testimonies have shown me that it is never too late to believe and enjoy life. Please share your faith dont just keep it to yourself and your family so that you can be blessed. Thousands of people are dying all around us and others are desiring death because they dont know they still have a chance... you could be saving their life, and their loved ones lives, both physically and spiritually. Certainly Mr. Robin Williams will be missed.
