My heart has been so heavy these past couple days with all of my friends and family members who are going through some pretty deep stuff. There have been deaths, major illnesses, many tears and hurting hearts, and all the while I find myself praying to God for some sort of peace in the midst of it all. I am reminded of an old hymn, in which was one of my sweet Grandma Cottons favorites. A hymn written after the life of Horatio Spafford, that stemmed from a series of unfortunate events in his life. The death of his son to scarlet fever, the loss of his business in the Great Chicago Fire which ruined him financially, and the loss of his two daughters, when the boat they were on was struck by another sea vessel and sank. Through all that this man and his wife endured they chose to say it is well. There are so many things in this world that we will never be able to understand, and there will be many times where our hearts hurt so bad that we feel we will never again feel a thing. We will question God, and fight him for answers, but there comes a time when we just have to say it is well. It is perhaps one of the hardest phrases to blurt out, I know from personal experience, but when we can say that, we can then begin healing our hurting hearts. Bethel Music has put a new spin on this old classic and I love it. It says Through it all my eyes are on you. To all my friends who are hurting today remember to keep your eyes on him. I love you all and have been in constant prayer for you! Cry when needed, find that friend to comfort you and to talk to, and trust in the mighty God who is holding you in his arms and giving you the strength to move forward. https://youtube/watch?v=YNqo4Un2uZI
