My husband has been in the hospital for seven days...and still not out. He fell in the kitchen and cut his arm very badly last Wednesday night...so off to the emergency room we went...eighteen stitches in his arm. Less than twenty-four hours later, he started shivering, vomiting, staggering, and was incoherent....called the ambulance...another trip to the ER. He was diagnosed with sepsis from a staph infection and was immediately put on IV antibiotics. He was very sick and in a lot of pain. It turned out that he had a gout flare up on top of the infection that had spread throughout his body. Today, he is much better, almost pain free and is getting his strength back...stitches will come out in two days. We are grateful for modern medicine, the tests to determine illnesses...and insurance to pay for the enormous cost.
