My last question went so well I thought I would pose another. My early instruction (before my current group) had taught me that zornhau is an overhau and is a cutting strike. My own experience however has led me to question this. As my body mechanics improve, I find with good hip rotation, good push/pull of the hands, and initiating the strike with the hands (and following with the step) that my blade is at long point position before my rear foot has traveled very far on its way to becoming a passing step. This makes for a very short range cut. So either the zornhau is a very short cut (contacting before the step occurs) or the zornhau is really a setup to a thrust and not a cutting strike at all. Your old video seems to support this idea. Would you agree that the zornhau is not really a cutting strike? https://youtube/watch?v=TdTdRGdKAcA&list=UUBsDIGcIhlamARsPHYEJkzg
