My oldest daughter, Tiffany Leann Gorski-Kimrey, is currently working in Afghanistan as a GS worker. She has been there a year now and we all miss her terribly but I couldnt be more proud of her! I wanted to share her most recent experience there with my many FB friends. From Tiffany- So wanted to let everyone know what I did this past week. it started off last week when I heard Col Usrey (he is my big boss here) said he was doing a Wounded Warrior Walk. Well my friend Gwynn was going to do it and I was mad that Col Usrey didnt ask me to do the walk so I threw a fit in the hall way right in front of him. then he asked if I wanted to walk and I was like yes. well at the time I didnt know the length of the walk. it was 100 miles. I told him I would do at least 10 of those. He said ok and if I did the 10 miles he would give me the bracelet he wore last year that he finished in I was like sold. well the history behind this is that COL Usrey used to be airborne and on one of his jumps he blew both his knees and really hurt his back. so he had to get both knees replaces and have back surgery so on the anniversary of his knee replacements he does a 100 mile walk for the wounded warriors. so the anniversary was Thursday. we had to do 143 laps around NKC. I was like ok we are walking how hard and Gwynn thought the same thing. well we started Thursday at 4pm. we did over 25 miles by 0400 that morning and my body was done. I ended up throwing up I was so done and I didnt get to go back to the room and sleep we all took cat naps and started again. I slept two hours and was back at it so this is Friday morning. by mid morning I had a two big blisters on my pinkie toe on my left foot and more on both heels so my feet were really hurting and my hip bone was on fire it felt like bone on bone. so I get my feet wrapped and keep going. one on of my laps one of the other COL comes out and walks with us and ask why we are doing this and we tell him about the wounded warrior project and he tells us 15 months ago his son had both of his legs blown off in southern Afghanistan so right there is motivation. I took another nap around 0900-1230 and start back up all my naps were in the vehicle parked out side. so by Saturday morning I take another nap from 0600-0900 and start again by this time my feet are on fire. I can go about six laps with out stopping and by the sixth lap my feet hurt so bad it would take me about an hour to do the last lap when I was doing about 3 laps per hour. so I would get my feet rewrapped and go again. around 5pm on Saturday Yvette came out and made me stop my feet were so bad at this point. but I was only 51 laps from being done and I really wanted to finish she was not hearing it at all. so she pulled me at hour 49 and I completed 92 laps out of 143. my feet have too many blisters to count. my pinkie toe started to rotate and it looks really bad and I can barely walk. I slept over 15 hours straight and would wake up to drink water by my bed. I drank three the first night then three more this morning. right now my hip still feels like bone on bone and my feet are so swelled I cant wear shoes so I am wearing my UGG slippers and half the time they are off my feet bc my feet barely fit in them. but I would do it all over again bc I have legs and we did it for people who dont have legs and arms. it was amazing how many people came out to support us there were only five of us doing the walk. three of us finished and myself and another guys feet were so bad they made us stop. I am going to finish once I heal up and get better and do my 51 more laps for the Wounded Warrior Project. just wanted to let you know my last couple of days have been. I feel like shit but for a good cause and I would do it all over again too just change that I would finish it
