My reflections on the first day of the first test in Adelaide: The Adelaide fans really know their cricket and know how to show their appreciation with excitement but respect at the same time. It was a brilliant moving tribute to Phillip Hughes with Richie Benauds short tribute and then 63 seconds of clapping. The long applause at Michael Clarkes entrance, shows that he has earned much respect during the past couple of weeks. Dave Warner and Steve Smith both reaching 63 not out during their innings was emotional and a special tribute. Its a pity that Michael Clarke could not hold on for an additional 3 runs before being injured. Dave Warners brilliant century would have made Phillip Hughes very proud. The Aussies slightly on top at this stage but we really need 500 minimum. Remembering that Adelaide is traditionally a high scoring first innings followed by a struggling second innings as the wicket starts to play tricks. Finally, its good to see the boys playing cricket again, exactly what Hughesy would have wanted. And on a side note, it was great to see Sean Abbott bowling well at the SCG today. He really showed great courage to play his first match back on the same wicket where this tragedy occurred.
