My response to Matt Walsh: As the father of twin girls, one of whom took her life 14 years ago at the age of 22, I felt moved to comment on this article. First of all, addressing the comments about choice. Im sure most people will agree that no sane person wants to die, hence one can draw the conclusion that people who take their lives are not sane at that moment, and not really making a sound choice. You have obviously never suffered from clinical depression and do not know the depths of despair that come with it. The pain of dealing with a psychological disorder is so intense that death is preferable and as such the psychosis involved clouds the thought processes to the point of death. My daughter was shortlisted for a Rhodes scholarship, was accepted to Oxford university, and was loved by many. The pain of her death is exacerbated by the ignorant statements of ill informed, self righteous pedants who at 27 years of age, think they have it all sussed out. My hope is that you never have to bury a child, and that, in the meantime, will remove yourself from the internet and take up another hobby; one less self-serving and more beneficial to mankind.
