My review on Fall out boy’s - American Beauty/American Psycho - TopicsExpress

My review on Fall out boy’s - American Beauty/American Psycho My overall thought on this record when I first heard it was VERY aggressive. They definitely didn’t let off the gas peddle in the least bit and kept that aggressive flow from track to track very tight. In my opinion, they stepped far away from their pop/punk-influenced sound and moved toward a slew of different hip-hop and electronic influences while mixing in a pinch of the beach boys sound on a few of the tracks on this record. If I were to compare a few tracks to another band, then I would have to say hands down it would have to be “krewella” I was hoping for a really awesome rock ballad track on this album but after hearing the first few tracks I got the sense that it wasn’t going to happen ha. The opening track “Irresistible” Really caught my attention and sets the tone for the rest of the record. The introduction has a cool trumpet introduction followed by Patrick’s aggressive vocal style to open the song. I was really happy with it and like the direction it was going. “American beauty / American psycho” - is I think the only track that will have to grown on me for sure, I definitely don’t hate it, but it’s the one track that made me think, “meh.it’s ok, it will grow on me”. ‘’Centuries “ has a dark piano introduction reminding me of a faster feeling “moonlight sonata” as soon as I heard the verses I fell in love with this track right after i heard the 808 kick that was used in the start of the verses and the aggressive feel to them. ‘’ The kids aren’t alright” - Made the same impact on me as “Alone together” from Save rock and roll. The verses/pre chorus has a nice flow leading up to an epic chorus sound. I’m placing this on 2nd on my top three tracks. ‘’ Uma Thurman” was defiantly an electronic/50’s surfer/ dance/ and rock sound mixed into one haha. i love the piano/synthesizer in the intro. The drum beat during the verses has a nice fit to the track and i thought the constant switching of different vibes were awesome throughout the track. “Jet pack Blues” – ‘’just one yesterday” was probably the first thought that came to your head when you first heard it ” I know it did for me haha. The drums have one of my favorite type of snare effects on its track and i like how punchy they come thru. I was very impressed with this track and placing this one 3rd in my top three tracks. ‘ “Novocain” had some interesting effects/sounds throughout the track, so I’m happy to hear the guys adding in different stuff and really evolving as musicians. “ Fourth of July’’ – Im placing this track 1st in the top three tracks. This is my favorite track off of this album. It’s has a lot of sick hip-hop beats in it, along with cool sounding synthesizers, guitars, and a really sweet bass line. This is one that’s going on repeat for a while… “Favorite Record” I think this is the bounciest/danceable track on this record. The guitar tracks sound really good on it. It’s a lot of fun to listen to, so I’m placing this song as a honorable mention. ‘Immortals” I think is your 2nd bouncy/dance song on the record. In addition has a good hard-rock feel to it, plus it’s in the movie Big Hero 6!! And finally, the last track on the record – “Twin Skeleton’s (Hotel In NYC) This was a great ending track to the record. You’ll hear ‘’my songs know what you did in the dark’’ without a doubt. The endless hold ons and really sweet sounding harmonies add a nice touch to end the track and the record. With that being said about the record, I’m giving it A- It’s truly amazing how much these guys have musically evolved over the past 12 years and continue doing it. Great job Fall Out Boy https://youtube/watch?v=zNkivNlkjj8&list=PLyImHm_bpA2V6Xz_BsZ17n7HyizIrbQl3
