My short story about cancer is this: The first clue to learning - TopicsExpress

My short story about cancer is this: The first clue to learning I had cancer came when I went to the DENTIST. What?! Yep, the hygienist took my blood pressure and told me it was 144/90; normally it was 104/54. The second clue was waking up to find my right hand swollen so much it looked like a catchers glove, (there was no space between the fingers). Clue number three came two days later; I was out jogging when I felt an unusual pain in the right side of my back. Going to the doctor a few days later, x-rays showed I had a baseball sized tumor on my right kidney. A few days later they opened me up and I gave birth to a small watermelon sized tumor, (along with my kidney), which weighed in at EIGHT pounds! This was June 9, 2010; two months before my 59th birthday. Im one of the lucky ones. I didnt require chemo or radiation; surgery apparently did the trick. And, here it is, December 14, 2014. I just had another MRI on 12-09 and Tuesday I learn if Im still cancer free. I never thought going to the dentist could save my life, but, it did. Ive been blessed with an additional 4 years and 6 months to my longevity, and, the prospect for even more time on this earth looks pretty good. I live by the motto Never Give Up. I laugh as much as possible. I live life to the fullest. And, Im having the time of my life. Jeffrey R
