My son Aidan, had to make a documentary for his media course. He chose to make it about his sister Emma - I choose to do my film about Emma because of how ordinary she is, and how differently people view her. I wanted to show people that she is not this vulnerable perfect little angel who should be covered in cotton wool her whole life. I wanted people to see that she is special but not because of an extra chromosome, simply because she is a very special little girl. My girlfriend Lois originally came up with the idea of basing the documentary around the story of the nursery to high school fight, and it just made sense straight away and gave me a subject which I could passionately explore.
