My sweet Mama needs to be in the hospital. Her pain is excruciating. She is almost 90 years old and has severe osteoarthritis along with dementia. It took three muscular male nurses to get her into the car to come home, while all the time she was whimpering in pain. Mike and I got her into bed, where she has been moaning in pain since she got home. The ER Dr. was frustrated and apologetic that she had to be sent home, but THANKS TO THE CHANGES IN HEALTHCARE, here we are. She needs expert pain management. She needs professional nursing care. Thanks be to God (and yes, I do mean that literally) for our home health care PT therapist, Susan Sims. Shes coming out tomorrow to help us assess the situation. Mom will see Dr. Cushing, the orthopedist on Mon. at 3:20. Just shifting her ever so slightly hurts her so badly. She didnt sob like she did last night when she broke her ribs. When I worked in healthcare as a Pt. Rep., the doctors hands werent tied in providing the care needed by their patients. Im furious.
