My trip to Israel this week as part of a bipartisan Congressional delegation has been very enlightening. We have had meetings with many experts, including former Israeli President Shimon Peres and former Palestinian Prime Minister Salam Fayyad. Israel is our nation’s strongest ally in the Middle East, and our visit serves as an opportunity to take a closer look at U.S. policy in the region, particularly during this difficult time. I look forward to more meetings with a wide variety of leaders across the spectrum to discuss the quest for a lasting peace and security in the region.
