My wife found this in a Thrift store in Mancelona, Michigan about 2 years ago for under $12.00, I think something like $6, the cooking surface and bottom and sides were so heavily caked with crud that it looked like it was used for a camp fire cook piece she knew it was Griswold but we could not see the other markings. Not knowing any way to get it clean, I tried to manually strip it with a drill and Brass brush bit but it didnt even touch the crud. Thanks to some links from this group I was able to strip,identify and re-season this Slant Logo Griswold 701 skillet an over 100 year old piece which I am working on giving it a new life.....
