MyANC ANC Statement on 2013 Sub-Saharan Finance Minister The African National Congress congratulates the Minister of Finance, Comrade Pravin Gordhan, on being named Sub-Saharan Finance Minister of 2013 by Emerging Markets. Without a doubt, this accolade is recognition of the sterling work the Minister and his team are doing in ensuring and maintaining economic stability in South Africa for the benefit of the people of our country and the region. The South African economy continues to be a beacon of hope and resilience in a tough global economic climate. The delicate balancing act by the South African government, with Comrade Gordhan at the financial helm, has at times necessitated difficult tradeoffs between the economic pressures and our policy imperatives. The African National Congress is pleased therefore that our prudent fiscal policies are being recognised globally in our daily quest to improve spending efficiency whilst steadfastly delivering on our unwavering commitment to create a better life for all.
