NABTEB RELEASES 2014 MAY/JUNE RESULTS The National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB), on Wednesday, announced the release of its 2014 May/June examination. Registrar of NABTEB, Dr Olatunde Aworanti, who disclosed this at the national headquarters of the body in Benin, the Edo State capital, said the examination body had succeeded in the conduct of its first examination in Ivory Coast. Dr Aworanti, who lamented that enrolment for NABTEB examination in Nigeria was still low, said 81,200 candidates enrolled for the examinations nationwide, while 79,495 sat for the examination. Providing details of the results, he said 29,129 candidates, representing 36. 64 per cent scored five credits and above in English Language and Mathematics, while 46,412, representing 58.38 per cent made five credits with or without English Language and Mathematics. He advocated the introduction of vocational activities at the early stage, pointing out that “techno-entrepr eneurship should be our national slogan in this era of knowledge explosion.” The NABTEB boss also said that the board recorded a drop in examination malpractices from 5,108 in 2013 to 1,952 in 2014. He attributed the drop to the introduction of e-learning packages for candidates, intensive monitoring and use of biometric data capturing system. Dr Aworanti called for implementation of new basic curriculum involving vocational activities if the nation’s quest for rapid technological development would be achieved.
