NEW BODIES! But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself. ---Philippians 3:20-21 It was the day I had been waiting for and so eagerly desired. I had spent 4 years in the military, but now my time to be released from active duty had arrived. The plane would take me back to the United States and I would shed my military uniform for civilian clothes and live life as a civilian. It was a transformation that I had been looking forward to. Fellow believer, our citizenship is in heaven. That is our home and even though we have not seen it yet, that perfect place awaits us. Are you eager to be there? Do you keep focused on living faithfully here to receive a grand entrance into heaven? Yes, one day these earthly bodies are going to be changed into bodies like that of the Lord Jesus Christ’s body (I John 5:2). What is that going to be like? Well, I am not exactly sure, but we do know it will be a glorious, heavenly, imperishable, immortal, and sinless body (I Corinthians 15:50-58). Fellow follower of Jesus, are you ready for a new body? One that does not have the aches, pains, creaks, snaps, cramps, imperfect vision, loss of hearing, tiredness, sadness… Rejoice, because it is coming! You know the smell of a new car, a new house and new clothes. It is exciting to have something new. Well, be excited because this new body won’t rust out like a new car, wear out like a house or be worn out like clothes. Your new body will forever be new! So long to the aches, pains, creaks, snaps, cramps, imperfect vision, loss of hearing, tiredness, sadness… A new body for you is on heavenly “layaway!” Dear Father, I do look forward to my home-coming/going and to have a body like that of our Lord Jesus’ body. Oh to be in that heavenly realm with all who love Him and to never sin against Him again. Yes, I so look forward to that time, but until then, please help me to be faithful about being and doing what You desire in Jesus’ authority.
