NIAGARA GAZETTE :Eleven-year-old boy seriously injured after running in front of car — An 11-year-old boy is in guarded condition at Womens and Childrens Hospital in Buffalo after he was struck by a car on Niagara Street late Wednesday afternoon. Falls Police Traffic Division investigators said they responded to a call of an accident at Niagara and 32nd streets about 4:35 p.m. and found the young boy in the street, suffering from what appeared to be serious injuries. The boy and his friends ran across Niagara Street and he was hit by a car traveling westbound, Traffic Division Capt. Angela Munn said. He had what looked like pretty serious lower body injuries. The boy, whose name is not being released at this time, was rushed directly to Womens and Childrens Hospital, Emergency room doctors determined he had suffered two broken femurs and two broken fingers. He was expected to undergo surgery for his injures late Wednesday night. Crash investigators said the driver of the car that hit he boy has not been charged, though her vehicle has been impounded. They say their investigation is continuing. We will do a complete inspection of the vehicle (later today) to determine if there were any mechanical malfunctions or any other problems with it, Munn said.
