NIGERIAN INSTITUTE OF ADVANCED LEGAL STUDIES HAS SCHEDULED ITS GOVERNMENT LEGAL ADVISERS/LAW OFFICERS COURSE, 29th JULY – 1ST AUGUST, 2013 The Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies (NIALS) was established in March, 1979, as Nigeria’s apex institution for research and advanced studies in law. In fulfilment of its mandate, it organises national and international seminars, symposia, conferences, workshops and lectures on any branch of law and related subjects. The Government Legal Advisers/Law Officers Course was introduced 15 years ago in response to the need for Continuing Legal Education of Law Officers in government employ whose knowledge of the law appeared to be confined to the basic rudiments of the legal profession. The expanding role of government brought about by the challenges of development and globalisation demands that lawyers involved in the business of governance and the public service be properly equipped to discharge their functions creditably. This Course is designed to accomplish this purpose. The course curriculum highlights major issues in governance and what the lawyer’s role should be. Experienced resource persons drawn from the public sector and the academia lead all sessions on the Course.
