NINA FOUNDATION PROJECT NIRMAAN – 5th March 2014 Nina Foundation’s Project Nirmaan – an OPD for friends with Spinal Cord injury was inaugurated on 5th March 2014. Nina Foundation is a thirteen year old NGO for rehabilitation of people with spinal cord injury. The objective of the Foundation is to spread hope and optimism amongst the spinal cord injured. Our latest endeavour Project Nirmaan offers assessment, counselling, rehabilitation management and solutions to less privileged friends with spinal injury. Our multi-disciplinary team comprising of doctors, therapists and counsellors offer world class spinal injury services encompassing physical, psychological, vocational, social, recreational and spiritual rehabilitation for overall well-being. Akhil Hind Mahila Parishad (Santacruz E branch) has very graciously offered us space at their Community Hall for the OPD. They also organised the inauguration ceremony. The dignitaries present were: Mrs Unnati Hathi (President, AIWC Mumbai), Ms Pooja Mahadeshwar (Municipal Corporator), Mrs Kamini Mehta (President, Akhil Hind Mahila Parishad), Dr. Ketna Mehta (Founder Trustee, Nina Foundation), Dr. Bhojraj (Trustee, Nina Foundation). The office bearers of Akhil Hind Mahila Parishad and Nina Foundation were also present. The ceremony began with an introductory address by Mrs. Kamini Mehta followed by invoking the Blessings by a Ganesh Vandana and recitation of the Dhanvantari Mantra sung by Ms. Vidya Shenoy (Trustee, Nina Foundation). The OPD was inaugurated by the auspicious lighting of the lamp by Ms. Pooja Mahadeshwar, Dr. Ketna Mehta, Dr. Bhojraj, Mrs Unnati Hathi and Mrs. Kamini Mehta. AIWC President Mrs. Unnati Hathi acquainted the audience with the various projects and works of the AIWC. Ms. Pooja Mahadeshwar gave her blessings to the venture and promised her continued support. Mrs Nivedita Sheth (Trustee, Akhil Hind Mahila Parishad) then introduced the Nina Foundation trustees to the guests with Dr. Bhojraj, Dr. Riten Pradhan, Dr. Jacob and Dr. Dhruv Mehta appraising them. Dr. Parinaz Humranwala put punch in her talk by comparing this coming together to a marriage, which she hoped would be long-lasting! Dr. Sagade and Dr. Himanshu Doshi sent their best wishes! After the vote of thanks by Mrs Devyani Vora (Secretary, Akhil Hind Mahila Parishad) and light refreshments, the OPD was opened. Mr. Gulab Pawar from Kashi-Mira and Ms. Priyanka Maurya from Uttar Pradesh were the first beneficiaries of Project Nirmaan. Each year there is a new feather in its cap and of course, thereby, the Nina Foundation FAMILY grows with renewed strength and belief, TO WALK TOGETHER FOR A WONDERFUL TOMORROW.
