Find out about his advocacy efforts, Spotlight on Dyslexia, his testimony at New Jersey Senate Education Committee for the definition of Dyslexia in NJ Code. _____ Session 6: 11:00AM-12:30PM Phonological Awareness and Its Impact on Decoding and Spelling (Elaine Russo, MA, OG-T, FDU adjunct) Overview theoretical framework, hierarchal phonological developmental levels, view multiple phonemic awareness activities for small group instruction. _____ Session 7: 11:00AM - 12:30 PM Spelling Red Words: Some Really Creative Strategies (Carol Radis, M.ED, DSC, Reading teacher, Craig School) Beyond the multisensory techniques used for red words, learn new strategies that assist the struggling speller acquire those non-phonetic red words. _____ Session 8: 11:00AM - 12:30 PM Comprehension Strategies for the Struggling Student Reading Fiction (Judy Shapiro, MS/LDTC, OG-THT, Co-Director Scotch Plains Dyslexia Center, FDU Adjunct) Explore methods effective in accessing and clarifying text for the reluctant reader.
