CCTV video captures the woman ripping the malfunctioning ATM off the wall, pulling the computer display out and punching it repeatedly. Shocked shoppers gathered to watch the woman’s Hulk-like meltdown in China’s Shilong Jinshawan Shopping Mall on October 16, some filming it with their phone cameras. Footage shows the woman standing beside the massacred machine, with reams of receipts scattered on the floor, as though nothing had happened. The woman, believed to be aged 28, told police she tried repeatedly to withdraw money but the machine didn’t work. The woman’s brother told police his sister had a mental illness. “She’s like everyone else when she has her medication, but if she doesn’t take it, then she’ll have an episode,” he said, according to China Smack. “When that happens, she won’t even know what she’s doing.” The woman was taken to Dongguan Mental Hospital for examination and has not yet been charged.
