NOVEMBER 2ND...Show opening for Justina Smith..Opening reception Nov. 2nd from 5 to 9PM Justina will be in attendance Come out and meet this amazing young artist. Justina was born in Edmonton and has lived in various parts of Southern and Central Alberta. From childhood to college age she spend a lot of time drawing and painting with watercolors. While taking the Technical Theater program at Red Deer College (98-00) she got roped into helping paint sets and drawing on the large back drops for various productions. After being shown how to create faux finishes on sets and props (wood, marble, patinas, etc.) she began to take a real interest in painting. Since 2008 Justina has traveled to many parts of Canada to paint. Haida Gwaii, Northwest Territories, Southern Ontario, New Brunswick, Quebec City and Newfoundland are some of the places so far. Her work is inspired by the landscape, architecture, conversations and her experiences along the way. She uses watercolors when traveling while her main media in the studio is acrylic. She also writes about her travels and the creative process on her Blog on the website. Justina’s work has made appearances in a multitude of areas including artifact illustration for the University of Lethbridge and the University of Alberta, t-shirt designs for local businesses as well as having sold paintings all across Canada and in the UK.
