NST - A cat shelter owner and her worker were each slapped RM800 and RM300 for wantonly causing pain and suffering to 17 cats under their care. Norhazlin Ibrahim and Helmy Jasman Sulaiman were fined by magistrate Zura Syazween Hamizan today after they pleaded guilty to committing the offence at Pusat Jagaan Kucing Omiey Home at Lot 6, Jalan 8/1, Kampung Melayu Kepong, Kepong here, around 11.30am on April 3. A Federal Territory Veterinary Department(JVWP) team had inspected the centre on that day and discovered the 17 cats locked in dirty and smelly cages with another 183 cats. Four of the 17 cats were found dead.
