NWS issues WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY for 01/21/15 from 6am to 6pm Our 4:00 pm Statewide emergency managers call with NWS just concluded. It looks like we are again headed for a winter weather event that may affect the morning rush, mid-day, and even extend into the late afternoon tomorrow. A low pressure system will be moving in from the west overnight, and be reinforced by moisture from a coastal system tomorrow. The areas likely to see the largest accumulations are where the temperatures are expected to remain below freezing longest. This would be for areas along the South Mountain and Catoctin ridgelines, as well as the area north of I-70 in the Middletown valley and the Sabillasville/Emmitsburg/Taneytown area near the Mason-Dixon line. Temperatures are expected to climb above freezing during the day, with how quickly they do so having a significant impact on what type of accumulation we can expect. There will be a 3 am National Capital Region call with NWS and the emergency manager and transportation agencies tomorrow morning. Any updates this evening or in the morning will be forwarded to this list Detailed Forecast § Late Afternoon Isolated showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 46. Calm wind. Chance of precipitation is 20%. § Tonight Mostly cloudy, with a low around 28. Light northeast wind. § Wednesday Snow before 3pm, then rain, possibly mixed with snow. High near 35.
