Name: Jordan____ Message: tipping should be included in the price of the cruise and carnival should pay their people salaries and not depend on the passengers to do that. I remove my gratuities each time I cruise and will do so gain on cruise number 5 on the freedom in August. I bet that other passengers do this because they think it is wrong that carnival expects me to compensate the crew. Put the price of tips in the cruise ticket or pay them more. Is it also true that carnival keeps a percentage of the tips that are SUPPOSED to go to the crew !!!!!!! That is so WRONG!!! And so I wanted to nip this in the bud straight away in case anyone new to Carnival was misled. Carnival does pay each employee a salary but we also ask our guests to recognise the some of the crew who provide service with gratuities if they have received service that meets and hopefully exceeds their expectations. This policy, of course, is no different to most cruise lines and many restaurants on land. It is a worrying to see that you have removed your gratuities and I hope that in August on the Freedom that you will consider the excellent service you will no doubt receive and therefore look after the people who have served you. Tipping is a personal thing and that’s why we won’t be adding gratuities into the cost of the cruise. We tried this some years ago and it simply did not work. Most of our guests reward the crew with the preset gratuity recommendations based on the industry standard and many give more if deserved. And I want to state that Carnival does not take a penny out of the gratuities that is left for our crew by our guests. This is also a great time and place for me to thank all of you who do reward those who provide the brilliant service that keeps you coming home to Carnival. Thank you all. cheers
