Nashville on target for Hastings carnival Group One winner - TopicsExpress

Nashville on target for Hastings carnival Group One winner Nashville has the Hawke’s Bay Triple Crown series on his spring programme and another trip to Australia also on the radar. The talented son of Darci Brahma is back in work at his Hunterville base and making good progress toward a return to racing. “He’s had nearly a month’s work and is a lot bigger and stronger now,” said trainer Adrian Bull, who races the gelding with his wife Robyn. Nashville will be aimed at the first two Group One legs of the Triple Crown showdown at Hastings with the likelihood of also contesting the series closer, the Spring Classic on October 5. “He’ll head to Hawke’s Bay for the 1400 metre one on the first day (August 31) and then back for the mile on the second day (September 21),” Bull said. “We’ll see how he goes after that and the Group One on the last day is a real possibility. We’ll think about Australia and Melbourne in the spring would be very nice.” Nashville won three times as a three-year-old and finished runner-up to Ocean Park in the Gr.3 Wellington Stakes before a frustrating trip to last season’s Queensland winter carnival. He was below par in two appearances and found to be suffering from a virus. He returned as a spring four-year-old to win an open sprint at Wanganui and then headed south to claim the Gr.2 Coupland’s Bakeries Mile. He was then unlucky in both the Gr.1 Telegraph Handicap and the Gr.1 Thorndon Mile. Nashville’s fortunes turned around in the Gr.1 WFA Classic at Otaki where he comfortably accounted for a small, but select field that featured top-flight winners Veyron, Better Than Ever, Ocean Park and Final Touch. He was turned out after disappointing in the Gr.1 New Zealand Stakes at Ellerslie in March when regular rider Kelly Myers said the horse had difficulty adapting to the right-handed circuit. – NZ Racing Desk.
