Natrang’s Children Theatre Camp-2013 concluded here today with a brilliant performance of a new Hindi play ‘11th Hour’ at Police Auditorium, Jammu. The play has been very intelligently written and directed by Sumeet Sharma , in-charge children and youth wing of Natrang and has been produced during 40 days long children theatre workshop. It was presented with the collaboration of J&K Police, Jammu. Featured in Natrang Sunday Theatre Series, the play received immense accolades and the audience was deeply moved by the plot of the play and also by its wonderful execution by the children. Mr. Atul Goel SSP, Jammu was the Chief Guest on the occasion who also honoured the children with the presentation of participation certificates awarded by Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi. 92.7BIGFM was the radio partner of the show. Earlier welcoming the distinguished gathering Natrang Director Balwant Thakur gave a overview of Natrang’s children theatre initiatives. He informed on the occasion that Natrang introduced children’s regular theatre in Jammu in the year 1990 and the plays produced by Natrang shot to national fame and there has been the times when Natrang children performed in almost all the major cities of India. Today’s play ‘11th Hour’ opened with a prelude story which provided a gist about the core topic of the play. Soon after that, all the children are shown in joy and excitement as they have a lot to show to the audience which they have learnt recently. They unveiled their talent of singing, dancing, acrobatics, acting and much more. But they themselves realize that this is not enough for the people who have come to watch a complete and wholesome play. So the search of a relevant topic begins. Some old story does not appeal them as they think they would not fit into historical characters. It is decided that the play has to be contemporary. While they were searching a topic for the play in newspapers, television and internet, a very huge devastation happened in Uttrakhand which moved one and all. What else could be more topical, relevant and necessary to be discussed other than this catastrophe, so they recreated the whole scenario to ascertain whose fault was this. But as they proceeded, they felt ashamed as these disasters which are labelled as the wrath of nature are basically man-made disasters and the basic reasons for such unrest in the nature is population, pollution, deforestation, mining, cutting of mountains and all other damages which man is causing to the earth, water and air for his greed or out of ignorance. They related all the calamities to J&K also and express their concern that the situation here is no better. In the end, they asserted faith on their parents that though it would be an eleventh hour effort, yet they would take care that they give a safe earth to the next generation. The presentations of the play were brilliantly done by Bhagyashree Kotwal and Gauri Thakur. Both the products of Natrang’s Children Theatre camps demonstrated lot of professionalism and were highly successful in introducing the show to the audiences.
