Nature Awareness 4/5/2014 - Tree Shrew These small mammals, that inhabit the forests of Southeast Asia, are not exclusively arboreal and are not typically considered to be true shrews. In fact, they have some features that are associated with primates, such as a large brain case. Tree shrews spend much of their time above ground in trees and bushes. They seek prey with well developed senses of hearing, smell, and vision. The tree shrew is a skillful climber and runner. It knows where it’s going and what it wants. People seeking out the wisdom of the tree shrew will discover an animal that is highly intelligent and steps outside the boundaries of the usual categories. This animal also endows its totem people with keen insight and drive. People working with the tree shrew can climb high in reaching their endeavors and go far with their goals. Of course, like all shrews, true ones or not, the tree shrew knows how to forage... to dig for hidden treasures and to expose what lies beneath the surface.
