Nature Awareness 5/2/2014 - Cockroach The cockroach as a totem? Really?!... Yes. Really. Can you name another animal more adept at adaptation and survival? The cockroach will take each and every little advantage presented to it to survive, and this same trait also makes it a strong proliferator. Life doesnt have to be ideal for the cockroach, it just has to be. One small thing is good enough for this hearty insect. Cockroaches are also symbols of environmental sensitivity. They pay close attention to changes in their world and then alter their approach to use anything and everything they can to their advantage. That is powerful stuff! Most people will cringe at the thought of a cockroach. Theyll run away and do everything they can think of to get rid of this insect. Yet, look who is still among us! The cockroach appears today to teach us how to use what we have currently available for our own survival at the moment. It is time to clean out the dead and useless aspects of our lives, too. When Cockroach appears as a personal totem, our sensitivity to subtle changes will be magnified when we carry or work with the energy patterns of this animal. Cockroach also brings the power to scurry out of danger. Although often seen as a disgusting creature... I know, I can hear the eeeewwwws through my computer from cyberspace now... Cockroach is actually a gifted teacher in the art of survival and successful adaptability, especially in environments that may seem a bit hostile. Symbolism: taking advantage of the little things in life, survival, adaptability to thrive, environmental sensitivity.
