If civil war erupts, then companies like Halliburton outright steal resources like they are doing in Iraq. The only thing they dont want is a free and soverign eastern Ukraine with Russians determining their own future away from the Nazis in the western half. Because of two reasons: 1) the western half alone is less profitable, less productive than the east and 2) the main reason to ignite Ukraine into a civil war is to strike Russia from that zone in the same way destroying Syria helps isolate and weaken Iran for continuous destabilization efforts.
