Nearly finished our game board for Joti, a lot of work has gone - TopicsExpress

Nearly finished our game board for Joti, a lot of work has gone into this but it should last for a few years, Were playing federations.. Rules are quite simple, attendees of JOTI/JOTA are split into 4 teams or federations, the winner of the game is the federation with the most scouts marching under its flag. Ok why the map? When the game starts, the map is empty, a country is only added when a first contact is made in that country, this can be through MIRC, Skype or Ham Radio. For a federation to get a country to sign up to its banner, they must make 4 contacts in that country, if they do before any other federation they can place their flag on that country and the scouts in that country are deemed to have signed up for that federation. The number of scouts, based on the 2012 census by WOSM in that country are then added to the federations scouting family. Ok, heres the point, it teach the YPs about geography, scouting demographics, and tactics, they will naturally endeavour to contact the larger countries, but as we know, the size of the country does not necessarily reflect the scouting population, so they will need to research. This should take the YPs outside of their comfort zones as they try and contact and communicate with the countries where English is not their first language, which could prove interesting. All contacts need to be confirmed, radio contacts must have their call sign logged, and where possible JIDs must be noted, or groups names, city, country. Hopefully we can fill our map pretty much, should be very cool, what do you guys think of the concept?
