Never a dull moment in the life of Monkey Helpline - TopicsExpress

Never a dull moment in the life of Monkey Helpline rescuers.......even if the challenge that is presented brings challenges associated with animals who are not monkeys, but we never turn down an appeal for assistance when the appeal is made ss a last resort. So it was that we found ourselves staring up at a cat perched on a high a pipe conduit 6m above the sales floor of the Cape Union Mart in Durbans Pavilion shopping mall. Having fallen through the suspended ceiling of the Cinema forecourt outside the entrance to the store, this Tom cat, steralised and part of a controlled colony, ran terrified through the door and into the well stocked outdoor supply store. Evanding all effort to capture for 2 days the cat was yesterday evening spotted high up in the conduit. Used to capturing monkeys in similar situations over the years, it took a bit of planning, a 6m ladder and 2 hand nets to see the cat swiftly caught and down the ladder into the waiting transport box. From there, up the escalators and a short walk to the outside undercover parking lot, terrain familiar to the cat, and where he is fed 2x daily, and he was released. Another happy ending.
