New Opportunities for Housing and Community Inclusion Ongoing Meetings for Parents Wednesday. December 11, 2013 at 7:00 pm St. John Chrysostom Church 617 S. Providence Road Wallingford, PA 19086 The New Avenue Foundation is a parent-led, grassroots, nonprofit organization comprised of families who are interested in creating more community inclusion opportunities and new housing alternatives for people with developmental disabilities and autism. We are interested in having more families join our efforts to create better lives for our family members and we invite you to join our ongoing meetings to work toward these goals. We are forming two working committees for families to participate in. One committee is working on 2014 community inclusion projects. The other committee is working on a parent-led housing model which gives families more input into daily activities. As a group of families we believe that we are in the best position to create more opportunities for participation in community activities and better community based living arrangements. We are especially looking for families in Delaware County who believe they can play a role in achieving these goals and who are willing to work toward them. True community inclusion must begin with the efforts of families to develop local contacts and resources. The New Avenue Foundation has achieved some significant initial success and we are looking to step up our efforts. This past summer we operated a plants and flower stand at the Media Farmers Market and this helped us develop important ties to community residents and civic leaders. We also have developed local resources to help us in establishing living arrangements that are an alternative to agency run group homes. Our next meeting is Wednesday, December 11th at 7:00 pm where we will continuing working to take our activities to the next level in 2014. Please contact us to register for this meeting. Tom Reinke at 610-505-9388 or Jim Wurster at 610-328-3824. tom@thomasreinke or [email protected] Directions: The meeting will be held in the Stephenson Center, St. John Chrysostom Church. 617 S.
