New Veteran Health Identification Card The Veterans Health - TopicsExpress

New Veteran Health Identification Card The Veterans Health Administration (VHA) is rolling out a new identification card called the Veteran Health Identification Card (VHIC). The VHIC replaces the Veteran Identification Card (VIC) currently used by many of our WWP Alumni which is why we want you to be prepared by being in the know! On February 21, 2014, the VHA began issuing the VHIC to newly enrolled and other veterans who were not issued a VIC as part of a phased rollout. Starting next month, VHA will begin a replacement effort to automatically mail the VHIC to veterans who have the old VIC. Here’s what the VHIC rollout means for you and your fellow WWP Alumni: If you are currently enrolled in VA health care: Please ensure the address VHA has on file is correct so you can receive your VHIC in a timely manner. To update or to confirm your address with VHA, please call (877) 222-VETS (8387) and press 0 to speak with a VHA representative. You can continue to use your current VIC until you receive your new card in the mail. Upon receipt of your new VHIC, the VHA recommends that you safeguard your VIC as you would a credit card, and cut up or shred the card once you receive with the new VHIC. If you do not currently have a VIC then you can request a VHIC at your next VA health care appointment. Its important that while you’re there you check to ensure your record is updated with your current address. Your VHIC will be mailed to you, generally within 5-7 days. If you are not currently enrolled in VA health care: WWP Alumni who are not enrolled in VA health care and want to receive a VHIC, you will need to apply for enrollment. Your enrollment options are as follows: Enroll online (fastest option) at va.gov/healthbenefits/enroll Enroll by phone by calling (877) 222-VETS (8387) then pressing 0 to speak with a VHA representative. Enroll by mail Enroll in person at your local VA health care facility If you or your family members have any additional questions about the VHIC rollout, please contact the VHA at (877) 222-VETS (8387) or visit the VHIC website by clicking here.
