New studies have indicated that both sides of the brain, the focused intent of the left and creativeness of the right, are needed for ideal visualization. There is a wonderful exercise for integrating brain hemisphere activity called the Cross Crawl. It is simply cross-lateral walking in place by touching the right elbow to the left knee and then the left elbow to the right knee. The exercise is done very slowly making sure the elbows and knees come across the center of the body. The cross-lateral movements facilitate faster and more integrated communication between the left and right brain hemispheres and have the effect of “waking up” the entire mind-body system.
