Newest update on my son Harley; After they removed the ventilator they also put a more permanent feeding tube in and removed the tube that was draining blood from his brain. He was then moved to a regular room. Buster had been talking but was still very agitated and confused and wanted nothing more than to get out of bed. Well, on Saturday, he succeeded. Buster planned his escape and--to no avail--fell out of bed and landed in a heap on the floor. They immediately did a CAT Scan and everything else necessary and concluded that there had been no further damage to his head, brain or other parts of his body. They also checked to see if the peg line (the permanent feeding tube) had been dislodged, didnt see that it had been, and put him back to bed. When we visited him on Saturday night, Buster complained about severe pain underneath of his ribcage and we talked to his nurses about it, they thought it was curious but assured us that nothing was wrong with the feeding tube. However, the feeding tube had indeed been dislodged in his fall and he was taken into emergency surgery to repair and replace the tube. But the feeding fluids and stomach acids filled his abdominal cavity, they pumped everything out. He now has an infection. His breathing is labored and he is no longer talking. It seems that Harley has taken a couple steps backward, he has a very high temperature of 106 and blood pressure of 159/106. Please continue to keep him in your thoughts and prayers as they seemed to have helped last time. Only time will tell and God will watch over him.
