News release On 11/11/13 at approximately 8:14 p.m., Snellville Officers were called to Crestwood Suites in reference to three black males breaking into a room with one reportedly armed with a handgun. When officers responded, they stopped two men coming out of the stairwell that they believed to be involved in the incident. As an officer patted down one man, another officer took a handgun from the waist band of the second man. This man broke free from the officer and ran with several officers chasing him. The first man was placed under arrest where he was initially stopped. The second man ran behind Crestwood Suites and into the parking lot of The Presidential Market, in front of Ross, where he approached a black Mountaineer occupied by a man and his daughter. The man tried to take the vehicle, but the driver pulled a handgun and ordered the man away from his car. The man then ran across the parking lot where he attempted to carjack a second vehicle – a red pickup truck. The driver of the red pickup left the scene before being identified (we need the driver to contact the Snellville Police Department at 770-985-3555). The man ran across Scenic Hwy where he approached a Nissan Pathfinder stopped at the traffic signal at Scenic Hwy and Pharrs Road. The man got into the passenger side of the Pathfinder and forced the driver to takeoff so he could evade the police. He told the driver he had a gun and would kill him if he didn’t drive away. The driver believed he would be killed if he did not comply. Officers chased the Pathfinder south on Scenic Hwy. The Pathfinder struck one of the police vehicles and then crossed the median driving into on–coming traffic. The Pathfinder caused several vehicles in the northbound lane to take evasive action before moving back into the southbound lane. The Pathfinder struck the same police vehicle twice more before being struck from behind by another police vehicle. The man ran from the vehicle and was caught a short distance from the crash. The man still had a wallet from one of the victims at Crestwood Suites when he was arrested. He also had a stun gun. Luckily, the driver of the Pathfinder was not injured. Investigators intend lodge numerous charges against both men; including, multiple counts of armed robbery, attempted carjacking, kidnapping, aggravated assault on a police officer, burglary and others as identified. The investigation is continuing. Once again - If you have information on the driver of the red pickup truck (victim) please call us 770-985-3555. Thanks - SPD
