I’m not really one to post political statuses/say anything political especially on social media. But, here we go: Recently there has been an increase in media and social media awareness of the situation in Gaza which has some people commenting on the fact that there are other similar situations across the world that do not receive the same attention. This is true; however, the issue is that there are people commenting on how the statuses are forgetting certain countries and therefore implying they are unimportant. No tragedy and injustice to humankind is considered “unimportant.” The bottom line is that not every country was mentioned due to the fact that there are too many to list in a single Facebook status. We need to raise awareness in the injustices in the world as a whole and not scrutinize and criticize each individual’s status for “forgetting” a country that is suffering. So, basically, I #SupportGaza just as much as I support each and every country with citizens that are oppressed and suffering because you don’t need to be a certain race, religion, ethnicity to support justice across the world, you just have to be human.
