Newspapers are on the decline. Readership is at an all-time low. To combat this, they have been adopting a pay to see it attitude for their online versions. This means that even FEWER people will see it. Its a lose-lose scenario for theses papers. Do they not realize the money actually comes from advertising? That the more people that sees their articles means the more advertising fees they can charge? Its terrible in a lot of ways as by essentially killing themselves, they limit the local content that is really the only thing that their readership wants. Fewer readers, fewer employees, fewer local articles, fewer readers.... self fulfilling prophecy. Something needs to change. Maybe the old, tired attitudes of the publishers?
