Nicki Minaj Responds to Starships Copyright Infringement Lawsuit... Last year, an underground electronic artist named Clive Tanaka sued Nicki Minaj for copyright infringement, claiming that her hit song Starships ripped off his track Neu Chicago. Minaj has now responded to the lawsuit, Radar Online reports. Minaj has claimed that she had never heard of Tanaka or Neu Chicago. She said the tracks producer RedOne, who was also named in the lawsuit, gave her the demo for the song, but she changed the lyrics in the verses. In the lawsuit, Tanaka said that since his song had been used in multiple TV ads in Sweden and had hundreds of thousands of online plays, Minaj and her team were likely aware of it. Shes asking for it to be dismissed, or at least for the case to be moved from Chicago to California.
