Non negotiable... I woke up 3x last night with this on my heart. Before I continue sharing what I know I need to please know I do not deem myself a relationship guru Ive learned alot the hard way I will say that much. So I began to think and pray about what that meant. I was a Realtor for 6 yrs, so when working with buyers we would always try to clarify the things they could deal with and the ones that were not even to be considered. The non-negotiables. For some it was having a huge yard, open floor plan, some cultures even refuse to view a home if the front and back door line up (bad feng shui). Others they could live with, they type of appliances, having an office etc So,when some of these folks would call me to go view a home that I knew had a non negotiable, they were just being curious. It could be a little frustrating. They obviously had extra time, but after multiple times it was a waste of time for me. The home they were waiting on just hadnt come out on the market yet, they were curious, over zealous. Totally understandable. How many times are we over eager for something in our lives so we venture into areas, into relationships that we ultimately know are a dead end because in our heart of hearts there are some non-negotiables there? Tears are shed, emotions are taxed, disappointments that wreck havoc on our hope. This morning I chatted with my girls. I always encouraged them to make a list of things they desired in a spouse. But I never thought to have them dig deep and pray and search their hearts for those non-negotiables. The things that will be the red flag when approached by a prospect. That will inevitably save time and emotional pain in the end. I am honored to have so many single friends I get to do life with as well as married ones. I wrestled with posting this because I loathe the thought of sounding like Dr Phil. But this could apply to so many of our lives in so many areas.
